Look at it this way: if another person close to them was having similar unanticipated success, what would their reaction be? If their reaction would be similar, then what is happening isn't personal to you, it is about their view of themselves.

Why the heck did it happen? I have no success yet, and even if I win, it won't hurt them. I worked for it. I told them I do. Why they keep hating? Its so irrational to me.
