I was last in the hospital following my last child. She was two months old at the time. I had not been on the right cocktail for the longest time. It’s not because I didn’t have a good doctor or therapist. But having scaled down my meds to a minimum and being in my 20’s which seems to be when my bpII really took off. In fact before I knew any better I had a PA (from my OBGYN’S office )tell me that I should stop this or that med because of the pregnancy. No weening, no titration nothing. I don’t know is it’s that he really didn’t know how stupid it was to do that or that he just didn’t care.
So when my baby was 2 months old I went inpatient. I was there only 4 days. It was a miracle though they put me on cymbalta, geodon and lamictal. I swear to god in 24 hours I felt like a new woman. I couldn’t believe how fast it was and the treatment team couldn’t either.
I was nearly desperate to leave but of course it was the weekend by the time we things kicked in and the hospital barely had enough social workers. But they let me out and I went home and continued with my doctor and therapist. That was 18 years ago and I’ve never been IP again.
