Lots of questions is a clue to someone in a leadership role that instructions/expectations given to subordinates are too vague, too broad, etc. You did nothing wrong and you are allowed to state what is and isn't acceptable communication in the workplace. I agree that it was Ok that I said this to her. She needs to know where my limits are and what I will and will not put up with. I also agree that if her instructions are not clear enough, it's on her to make it more clear. She's impossible, I've realized - utterly impossible.
