There probably is an end for some people, but for most I don't think so. Once someone has crossed the threshold it seems to lower their vulnerability even after "full recovery". That is true for me and others I know who have been through the illness.
After I recovered from my first bout of the illness the symptoms returned about 4 years later. The illness was milder that time. Eventually it resolved with the help of medication.
I have an anxiety disorder as well. It can really wear me out and complicate stressful periods in my life. Sometimes psychotic symptoms resurface, especially if I'm sleep deprived and not eating well. The symptoms I get are generally mild, mostly auditory hallucinations and ideas of reference. My reality testing abilities usually stay intact. As long as I can question what is going on I know I'm not in any danger.
