Try to watch less news coverage. It helps. I actually don't watch live television at all anymore, and I limit my news to just the facts from reputable sources, and I don't allow myself to spend lots of time reading the news. Self care is important; it is easy to get lost in the media hype and not see things in perspective - news media is NOT about perspective.

I have to be able to work, to teach, to function, AND to not get bogged down in the constant bickering. Too much media exposure is a beat down. I choose to spend my time interacting with my family, my friends, my students, my organizations. Can't isolate in my life, so it is important to keep things in rational perspective.
