Hey @BethRags: I’m assuming this is an apartment situation or other complex like place ? Or is it a home ? I know these ring doorbell and other overpriced options for security and privacy are useful and popular many people think that a camera is not allowed or too much money for apartment folks. Well I had an idea that my brother did with his new place. I told him that there are cheaper options but game cameras often do the same thing although maybe not as perfect or high tech it gets the job done. When used for tracking or hunting it’s usually camouflage and mounted to a tree. Super easy to put somewhere and if I understand it correctly easy to install and super affordable. I’ve seen them as low as 40$ and some have different options for storing data. My brother of course isn’t allowed to hang it on his front door but he somehow rigged or installed it at one of his windows so he can easily see what’s going on and who’s there. Whichever camera he bought he was able to buy another and link them and he has it in his home so he can see who enters when he’s not home. When it comes to places like a townhouse or condo I’ve actually seen and basic motion lights with cameras that have a certain radius or area it can observe. It might not work for you and you won’t get your mat back but maybe it would offer you a comfortable level old protection.
