I tried many versions of CBD before I went and got a medical card. I have an autoimmune disease am that causes pain and long term opiates is something I want to avoid.
IMO it was useless. For me the placebo effect wasn’t even really there. Some people will say if it doesn’t work at all it’s just that I bought the wrong kind, bought “commercially” made cbd, didn’t give it a chance or other fault based comments. So I tried many. I never had pot in college in fact I knew nothing and have only been working with it for a year. I don’t like to smoke it but I did try. Many people just like the way it feels and get their card to have access to legal MJ and aren’t interested in learning anything or more about how it works and what kind, how much etc helps certain things. NJ is in legal limbo due to approval by voters but with no rules or taxes etc So its conflicting information. There has been an explosion of authorized doctors willing to see people now at very cheap prices and almost no guidance.
I started with a sports medicine doctor who is actually leading a program to have Texas explore medical MJ as a legitimate medical treatment. At the time the general rate was 200-300$ initially and follow ups every three months at roughly 100$ a pop. This was due to very few doctors authorized or willing to consider it as an option for people. So few doctors and many new patients. I decided rather than finding a quick fix doc that’s cheaper I wanted a doctor very educated and involved in how mj works and what ingestion methods are best.

It’s frustrating because I’m starting to think I’m immune to the pleasant effects of mj. I’ve had to try so many things and none of it is cheap. Many will say why not buy it from a person off the street cause it’s so cheap. Maybe that’s ok for people who’ve been using it for awhile but I wanted the doctors help. He explained: it is not meant for acute pain from surgery or injury. Even when it’s for cancer patients it’s usually only for side effects from chemo.

I am trying to deal with the pain and also anxiety. My doctor said in his studies adequate pain relief requires both THC and CBD with higher amounts of CBD to treat pain. Higher thc to CBD ratio’s is best for sleep and anxiety. I’m not dismissing whether it works for all this stuff. There’s not much “official evidence based studies “ to widely reject cbd. But it doesn’t mean it’s pseudoscience. There’s little to no “proof “ that Accupuncture does anything at all but I support it.

Anyway for treating conditions I’d advise people to see a doctor even if you only get cbd because he will be the best resource
