That’s a valid risk and I respect your nervousness with that. Through out my life I’ve had quite a number of physical operations needing general anaesthetic and from what I’ve learned, that in itself presents risk of death but it’s rare if you are healthy other all. I’ve been told that the risk is even lower with ECT, which has been reassuring considering the repetitive procedure over a short period of time. I’ll be having my fourth session tomorrow and have not had adverse effects from the anaesthetic. The only strangeness of it is that normally you’d expect something tangible (as you would with a physical operation)... but one sec you’re asleep and then you wake up in another room assuming everything went ok but nothing to see.
