I think it's important to say something if it's important to you. It would probably be best to approach it calmly and respectfully. It's possible the person had a lot on their plate and they forgot or maybe they had another reason but either way I think it may be helpful to approach them conversationally. I'd probably start the conversation by explaining how happy I was to hear the employer was celebrating this awareness and if it's still going to happen and if not why. I'd also explain why I think it's important that it does happen.
