“A lot of what passes for “body positivity” is just outright anti-fatness. What we absolutely don’t need are messages like: “you’re not fat, you’re bloated,” “you’re not fat, you have organs,” “you’re not fat, you’re on your period.” Any possible rationale to assure someone that their worst fear hasn’t come true. So, I want to be very clear about something. I’m not interested in soothing your fear of being or becoming fat.

I’m interested in creating a world that has no reason to fear fatness.

I’m interested in seeing fat people treated with dignity and respect. I’m interested in seeing fat people gain access to the rights and resources we are currently denied. I’m interested in seeing fat people gain full and uninhibited access to healthcare, employment, education, travel, clothing, and more.

I firmly believe that world is possible and it is what we should be working toward.”
