Millions died in the other pandemics. 2 million in 1957 is the equivalent of 5.5 million today. There are 2.7 times more people on the planet now that then. Today we have mass media spreading mass panic. We also have fewer hospital beds per capita now that we did in the past. Fewer than half as many according to this:
