That sounds like a horrible situation to be in, yes you’re quite correct a PCR can pick up dead virus particles and therefore you aren’t to take one for 3 months after your original covid infection (this is in the UK not sure about India or US guidelines).

My own experience with lateral flow tests I tested positive until day 10 and I’ve been negative since. That said it can happen people can test positive by lateral flow for some time later in some cases, again it’s dead virus particles which haven’t been cleared out of your system I believe.

A letter from a doctor verifying recovery sounds like a good plan if they’ll accept that. Hoping all goes well and glad you haven’t been too poorly!
