Breaking Intergenerational Trauma [emoji3590]*🩹

[emoji3534]REPOST [emoji3534]@the.conscious.pathway
“A lot of us grew up in families or environments where appreciation and compliments are suppressed. Their importance is often downplayed, or even frowned upon and seen as patronizing to a degree that giving or receiving appreciation can feel uncomfortable.

As receivers of compliments we might shrug it off immediately or even question someone’s intentions for giving a compliment. As givers of compliments, we often hold back from voicing our appreciation because we think it will not be well received.

Unfortunately, it robs us of so many opportunities to withhold our appreciations from our loved ones. Appreciation is such a powerful tool to bond with someone. Giving authentically vulnerable and genuine compliments shows our partners how much we value and honor them for how they show up for us. It is an opportunity to heal and feel seen by our partners if we learn to truly let a compliment sink in.

Breathing the appreciation into our bodies and putting our hands to our heart before we say thank you, lets us truly take in the healing power of compliments.”
