We had a really bad ice storm one year, lost power for over two weeks and a bunch of elderly people died because we had a cold front come in right after it and I'm assuming they froze to death; nearly everyone without a generator or wood stove had their pipes burst. I remember on like day 10 afterwards the fire department coming around and checking in on people and there still being trees in the road.
