I agree it would be good not to say "I worked at blah-blah-blah company for 40 years" or some such. And also don't put down all your jobs over the years on a resume, just the relevant ones to the job you're seeking.

Case in point, I 'm trying to get a book published. I don't want the publisher to know it's my first attempt at publishing a book and I'm 67. So, I'm not going to say I've worked as a newspaper columnist for as long as I have!
