Forgot to say I don’t like biathlon either. Something to do with guns, I don’t like guns.
Another thing about the Olympics is the intense training they go through just to qualify for the team. Then they have to go through rounds of more qualifying tests or races! If you don’t make the final group you don’t compete for a medal.[emoji22]
Also they are under so much pressure and expectations….If you won gold in the last games you’re expected to win again. They call you the “defending champion”, even the choice of words there is a lot of pressure.
I’d buckle under that pressure, along with reporters shoving a microphone in my face after I had a fall or something: “What are you feeling now?”[emoji19] What do they think?
So after years of training your Olympics could be over in just seconds, depending on the sport.
The gravity defying high flying aerials I love is over for each competitor in about 10 seconds, they are airborne 4 seconds to do their tricks and land smoothly. No room for errors at all!![emoji33]
Nammu, regarding skating I haven’t heard less chatter. Was then during singles or pairs, do you remember?[emoji3]
They are the reason I quit watching years ago. Two commentators are enough for any sport, yet some have as many as 4. For the love of all things sacred will they SHUT THE EFF UP?![emoji2959]
My heart breaks when a skater stumbles or falls. And Weir will say “that won’t help his score, big deduction”. Duh?! We aren’t idiots, we know that.[emoji57]. Or I could be sarcastic and say I thought the more falls the higher the score.
And if he’s never fallen.
People have been complaining about them long before this but maybe it took years to sink in? They may be getting paid to talk but I don’t listen.[emoji16]
I don’t mind background on an athlete, like how he placed third in Worlds last two years and this is his first Olympics. But most of the time the commentators criticize an athlete to death.[emoji2959]
What I love about skating is that it combines artistry and athletics. No other sport does it, except floor exercise in gymnastics. Oddly, only the women perform to music in that. Sexist I think [emoji3166].
Anyway no other sport in these games have music except for skating. And Tara and Johnny ruin it. They were being interviewed and I fast forwarded through it. I don’t care what they say.[emoji35]
