Well you don’t have to lie per se if you make it vague. “I made plans already”, “I have something going on today”. Vague enough. They don’t know what it is. It could be plans to watch a tv show. Or take online class you already paid for. Not their business.

Blizzard will require making plans. It could be to run buy something essential before it hits (cat food, medication etc). Or order groceries ASAP. Or move trash cans inside. Ton of things might have to be done. Again not their business. You might be having virtual therapy session regardless of the weather. So many things now are online. They don’t know what you are doing. You have a pet that requires immediate medical attention.
