I kinda of feel like I won the housing lottery as getting into subsidized housing here is next to impossible - wait lists are measured in years, sometimes decades.
But I got into a boarding house run by a Catholic charity specifically for women with mental health issues - I was able to skip the que, because I knew someone who already lives there and she recommended me.
The building is really clean and well maintained, and the other residents seem nice. There's a total of 5 women in the house so it's not huge.
It's half the cost of the market rent I'm paying now, and will cut the commute time to my job from an hour and a half, to about 15 min., plus I'll be closer to my clubhouse, plus I'll save over a hundred a month in transit fees alone.
This is going to make a huge difference in my quality of life overall.
