Totally hear your frustration and it sounds legit to me. Questions: have you tried viewing this from his perspective, maybe try playing his games to show him that you would at least like to chat about the same stuff? Maybe it really is the only me time he has? I always fall for gamers and other nerds, because they value fun, and maybe he feels the same way...no idea, but try a game? Lol jk your call. I would.
