I don't get to take strong meds to help with anger either, due to my medical records showing I'm a recovering alcoholic (addict!

), so I basically have to process my thoughts & emotions this way: by feeling them then letting them go every time they arise. Use healthy distractions too. And I tell myself positive things and try to understand the triggering event (usually a person in my case) in a more compassionate way. And just keep letting it go. It's ongoing and tiring but in the end things settle back down.
