I found him on the animal shelter website. He just popped up last night and I called immediately. Picked him up at 1pm today, took him to meet my parents who adored him, then went to the pet store to get supplies, then he did a few laps around my house, then I introduced him to his kitty condo that I built myself. He is super smart, I taught him how to go up and down the ladders and he caught on fast. The kitty condo is three stories and has two pillows and a hammock with three locked entrances for me to come get him. That is where he will stay when I am at work so he doesn't get into mischief.
When I saw him online I knew he was the one. His original name was Beanz because he has extra toes, but I've had wanted an Elwood J Blues my whole life, and it seems so fitting. He is so beautiful, and he looks like a little lemur, especially when at the shelter he was bouncing around and jumping up to look at all the cats and when I introduced him to his cage he was climbing the cage and speeding around. When he was doing laps around the house he reminded me of Simba from the Lion King, very much a little lion himself.
At the shelter he came to me when I called him, and he kept coming up to me to sniff at me and play with me and rubbing against me. He's got a very active "purr motor" as the shelter calls it, which I find very important in a cat, and his eyes are just gorgeous. He was very curious of all the other cats, and very playful, and scratched on the cat scratcher. He also did very well meeting my parents' dog who was kenneled so as not to overwhelm the kitten. The dog smiled the entire time and really wanted to meet the new kitty.
I paid $100 for him at the shelter, and he came with all his shots, was neutered, microchipped, and came with a voucher for a free vet vist plus a free bag of kitten food from my work and a free coupon at the feed store.
He is three months old.
Isn't he just precious!? He listened to the Blues Brothers on the way home, and he seemed to love Tom Petty, too, when I played it for him.
