My husband, sister, and I had a nice visit with Dad. I was quite pleased to see Dad's physical and cognitive capabilities notably improved. I imagine his mood and eyesight improvement also played parts. What a difference such things can make. Truly!
My poor brother has a preliminary diagnosis of pancreatitis. They still need to run more tests, though. He said he expects to be in the hospital for at least another few days. He sort of sounded a little scared. My sister senses that, too. He acted the same a while back when he was hospitalized with heart issues. Of course it must be scary, but it still seems strange from a man who always acted tougher than life. How an illness weakens the spirit! Truth is, he's very lonely in life. That makes the fear worse, I'm sure. Loneliness itself can be a major risk factor for illness. I told him that Hubby and I would visit him in the hospital tomorrow. I'll try to reassure him the best I can. Frankly, I think my brother could greatly benefit from a therapist. Someone to help guide him beyond the limited existence he's set himself up into.
