How compassionate is your pdoc? I don't know anything about the legalities of getting a service dog, but I think it's a terrific idea for you. I would stress that your husband will not continue to be available to assist you. You can say that he won't be available because of his own mental and physical health issues. I wouldn't say he "may not" - I'd say he "definitely won't."
