I'm born, raised, & live in northern California. About 90 miles west of where I live is the Pacific Ocean (Pacific is a sweet word, it means "peace"). About 400 miles to the east is Nevada. 500 or so miles to Los Angeles and about 400 miles to Oregon. California is a huge state!
I love & appreciate so much about this state...all the varieties of geography (ocean, mountains, flatlands, forest, rivers, lakes, our huge trees that grow so big because the sun is very high, the redwoods - which are a temperate climate zone & the only place redwoods grow in the world are along the Calif/Oregon coasts). The rich agriculture. The vibrant history. It's absolutely gorgeous here. I love the diversity, so many cultures, so much creativity.
What don't I like? You guessed it. The cost of living is outrageous. Prohibitive. Right now the cost of gas is pennies under $6/gallon. Everything...rents are off the hook. And so on.

Whoops, I guess I made some errors. Actually, I live about 75 miles from the Pacific Ocean (which is west) and about 145 miles from the Nevada border (which is east). Nevada is closer than I thought, haha.
