Yes, alternative therapies, alternative medicine.
In the past when I could afford it I regularly saw an acupuncturist. I had had kidney infections that were torturous and western medical treatments weren't helping. A friend told me about acupuncture. I was very skeptical, but I was desperate, so I went for treatments. Turned out that acupuncture worked wonders for me. Since those treatments so many years ago I have not had another kidney infection. I would love to go for acupuncture again, but the money just isn't there. My niece is an acupuncturist, but I would feel bad to receive treatments from her and not pay.
Breathing, meditation, mindfulness. I also find scents soothing. Candles and I buy body butters (lotion) from Etsy shops. For me, hemp oil is especially helpful for my skin so scented hemp oil is a real treat. But I'm careful not to mix up fragrance oils with essential oils, because they are from very different sources.
I should find tea calming, but it's never done much for me...there is a Yogi Tea, Honey Lavender, that I like sometimes. But give me 3 shots of good espresso any day - and actually, espresso really helps if I'm getting a migraine.
I'm cautious with herbal medicine...I can't afford to see a homeopath and messing with herbs has sometimes had a very detrimental effect on me - possibly due to a medication interaction. So while herbal medicine is intriguing to me I wouldn't get into it too deeply without the guidance of a healer who practiced not only herbal healing, but also had an excellent knowledge of psych meds.
That's about all I can think of.
