Of course I don't know how things work where you live. But where I live all psychiatrists (and other doctors as well when it comes to antidepressants) do is to prescribe and monitor medications. When I see my pdoc, every 3 months or so, I'm typically in-and-out in less than 10 minutes. I don't see a therapist myself. But if I wanted to, I'd have to find one myself. Perhaps that's what you need to do as well? By the way, I can relate to what you wrote about not wanting to talk to your wife so as not to worry her. I don't talk about any of my mental health concerns with my wife either.
