My therapist ended my therapy this weekend. Via email. With no notice and no further contact. Her explanation is that "she needs to take time off". We were deep into work about childhood sexual abuse, abandonment and traumatic attachment. The irony would be funny if I could laugh. I feel gut-punched. She's always been tricky, sometimes unprofessional, and our relationship has been characterised by ruptures, but this feels, I don't know. I am shocked.

I have read many people's experiences of sudden termination (including on here) where they assumed it wouldn't happen to them. I assumed it wouldn't happen to me.
