Never had armadillo either! They sure are funny looking; I've only seen them in The Clash's "Rock the Casbah" video. They look like something that should have gone extinct millions of years ago.
Back to fireworks/crackers....In my building it's sometimes hard to tell if a "boom" I heard is from somebody slamming their car/truck door in the garage or if that's something going off in the distance.
Only about 4:45 here now, this will be over in a few hours. But I'm waiting for the noise.
