Hey everyone, I am not sure if anyone is interested in this topic but a lot has happened since I last posted and I needed somewhere to vent so I hope its okay if I post here.
When I tried to taper off my medication I must have done it too fast and ended up in the hospital with a very serious side effect. The hospital called my former Psychiatrist and arranged an emergency appointment with him. I told them I didn't want to go see him and explained the situation but they were insisting on it because "its best to stay with the same clinician when you suffer from a long term mental illness" and said their lack of response is probably due to burn out due to the systems being over stretched since the pandemic began. And so my treatment was transferred back to my original Dr.
During our first appointment he seemed really concerned for me all of a sudden, when I tried to talk about what happened he just changed topic and narrowed everything down to a "crisis" and that the most important thing is for me to get back on my feet. He also said in the future he will not accept any breaks in therapy and that he does not believe I can manage my symptoms without him.
After our session I was very conflicted not only by his behaviour but every other Dr as well, but despite this I made up my mind and sent him an email letting him know I do not want to continue treatment with him, that I have a new Dr and that I am terminating him effective IMMEDIATELY.
To be honest I am quite concerned that when I start with the new psychiatrist they will try to get me to be treated by this guy again :/ I feel beyond exhausted due to this situation and I am on sick leave from work ever since...
