Chat in and of itself can be a tricky place to be at times. Since this is a mental health site, there are many folks here who are tender and it can be hard when it seems that folks are ignoring them.

There are many reasons why this can happen. Many reasons that we can be unaware of and it's hard not to jump to a conclusion as to why there is no comment back from some folks.

Getting everyone in chat on the same page is probably not going to happen...I think we have to be realistic here. Yes, common courtesy is a good thing....I'm all for it. But not everyone is going to agree, or going to be in "that place" at any given time.

All any of us can do is the best we can do at any given time. I know that at times its hard not to take something personally when we walk into an ongoing chat and then there is silence. It can be difficult to jump in and say hello for some folks, for other's it's more easily done and some have better communication skills than others do. I think it's very important to do our best to not take things personally if at all possible.

If anyone becomes upset with being ignored or left out, one can always jump to the Support Room and wait for someone to come in to talk to them and help out. I do know that flying off the handle and getting angry and lashing out certainly makes things more difficult than it does to help solve the problem Positive communication is always the key!
