To answer your question how people have the power to make another person feel so low after talking to them......is......that you give them the power.

You are the one who has given the power to them to make you feel that way. Once you take back the power that you have given them....you will find that they will not be able to make you feel like dirt anymore. Granted, it is a process to go through and learn how to take back your power....but it is sooooooo worth it!
