Willowtigger, you are not dumb and you didn't break anything hon. 
Tech devices are very particular. If we don't tell them what we want in the format they want they willfully don't do what we want. Can't tell you the number of times I've yelled at my computer "No, do want I wanted not what I told you to do!"
