I agree, you can't try to "find" your pet who has passed on in another animal. But going out (when you're ready), and rescuing an other fur baby who is in need of love and affection and care is a great, healing thing. They need us so much. A friend convinced me of this, and she was absolutely right.

I thought it would hurt too much. I thought I'd be a blubbering, dithering mess in the rescue center. It did take me a few trips back and forth, before I settled on a lovely black kitten who kept trying to get my attention from her cage. She had been slated for euthanasia later on that 3rd day, as she was struggling with a "kennel cold". All I had to do was lay out $5 for a prescription, and keep her fed and watered and warm, and the infection only took a week to completely clear up.

She subsequently became one of the greatest cats I've ever had the privilege to know.

Letting a new little sweetie into your life can be one of the greatest things you'll ever do. And the rewards are huge.
