It seems like I have to get an insane amount of blood drawn, for one reason or another, and this week my veins decided to rebel. I have so many needle-stick marks where they poked, and poked, and then dug for gold, and still couldn't get a damn vein to produce anything.

This happened again today in what is usually my "good" arm, which also is the non-scarred arm. The tech decided to try my left arm instead, positioned it as she needed it, saw the scars and said, "That looks like my legs. I used to do that to take away the pain from my migraines. Then my mom found out and that was the end of that."

It isn't the first time I've had a lab tech comment on them and either directly or indirectly ask me to talk about them. Sometimes I don't mind; sometimes I don't want to be bothered. Has this happened to anybody else? How do you deal with it? I mean, I'm all for educating people about SI, and I want to be empathetic to the people who admit also to doing it, but there are days I just don't want to be an ambassador for the dysfunctional.
