I just got out of hospital last week after 20 rounds of TMS. My pdoc had originally suggested ECT but my partner said no way.

TMS is bearable. You’re awake the whole time. Kinda like someone tapping you on the head for 37 minutes at a time. I had 2 sessions a day. At the hospital I was at they don’t allow visitors but I was allowed to leave for 2 hours every day.

The pdoc who did my brain mapping said it will take 2 weeks after treatment to notice the full effects.

My mood has gone from a 1/10 to maybe a 3.5-4/10.

The thing I don’t like is that it requires maintenance sessions. Ughhhhhhh. I’m not leaving my family again. I have a 3 year old son. Those nearly 3 weeks in hospital were far too long. He said I’d need a top up of 6 sessions at 1 month then at 6 weeks.

He also said any “improvement” I might be feeling is temporary and will last 3 months. Hopefully the meds will have kicked in by then.

There’s places here in Australia that do TMS outpatient but that’s $$$

There were patients getting ECT. They all mentioned top up maintenance sessions of having to go back in because results of that are temporary too.
