Yeah long distance calling was a big deal!

And we only made those calls on special occasions like you say. And you used an operator to assist you; it would either be "person to person" or "station to station". Reception definitely wasn't always clear! But on that note, my landline is always clear and working. No need to charge a battery or worry about a signal.

And I remember when AT&T was a long distance call company only. Now they've gotten into everything or they are trying to.
