Personally I had goals of getting a degree & having a career from as young as I can remember. Had no idea what degree or career but aimed myself & adjusted my life course throughout my life to meet that goal.
My dad was negative on my going to college so I just blew him off & did what I knew was right for me. My mom really said nothing. I got married when I was a junior in College. Husband said I could take a few years off to be a stay at home mom a few years after marriage. He got told in no uncertain terms where he could stick that opinion. I graduated with my Accounting & Computer Science degree 10 months after my daughter was born & had my career job offer before graduation.
Sometimes we have to just focus on the goal we want. Mine adjusted a few times cause at first I aimed for a music degree then changed as a junior. We adapt our path to our goal if necessary.
If you don't try you will never know what you can accomplish & it is your own responsibility to yourself to try in spite of what anyone else says. Go into it with an open mind & if adjusting is necessary along the way....analyze the possibilities. Regrets happen only when we don't try
