I hear you @riptide53 - other people who have not grieved deeply think one just flips a switch. It is not that easy.
What I did with cat food is gave them to an animal shelter or the food pantry unopened stuff. I use the cat litter that is unused in the garage to sop up spills and I washed the bedding and donated to animal shelter.
