Another change of plans.
The storm's path changed again overnight. It is going to make landfall further south of me. I've decided to ride it out here at home. The storm is far enough south of me it should be safe. If it makes a jig north I will still have time to leave. I have all the things to take with stacked by the front door or already in the truck. If I decide to leave all I'll have to do is throw stuff in the truck and go.
Cats are either in carriers or locked in the bathroom so I can catch them to put them in carriers. I tricked them this morning at breakfast. Sean has been very vocal cursing meme. I believe I heard him say "we hates it forever."
I mentioned in my reply to Beth that we get days of warning before a hurricane. That's a double edged thing. On the plus side we have days of warning to pick up stuff outside and make plans to evacuate. On the flip side we have days of tracking the storm wondering where the damned thing is going to go. Witness Ian... first it was headed toward the panhandle. Then it was headed up Tampa Bay. Now it's taken aim on southwest Florida. That part of the state is low and flat, plus the storm is just shy of a cat 5 storm. That area will get hammered.
In terms of self care a large part of my anxiety is way less because it seems we know where the storm is headed. I've done everything I can to prepare, including a plan B to evacuate, if need be. I'm limiting how much TV I'm watching related to the storm. News folks get hysterical reporting this sort of thing. I plan to binge watch DVDs today.
