I think life is just more than a game of pool. It's a game of practice and perseverance. You not only need to picture the ball in the pocket but acquire all the knowledge necessary to get it there.

remembering as a child when i saw my first pool table how interesting and fascinating it was to me.... the light reflecting off the shiny pool balls... the great mystery began...
i watched the older guys line up on the ball.. i watched how they casually joked, and then, when it was time to take the shot, all became quiet...
that was the shooters moment.. when, out of respect and regard, everyone became still and let the shooter concentrate... how good it could be if that was always the case in real life...

yes! i see this clearly.
probably why i had difficulties with my timing in life. the cart before the horse thing. being impatient - missing the shot. not concentrating on my moves - missing the shot. going way too fast - missing the shot. not seeing the route in it's entirety - missing the shot. not having set the goal to make the shot - missing the shot.

it is....
the spirit of the game is to allow your partner the same quiet time before he/she takes her shot.. a sort of mutual respect and understanding that each allows the other without a spoken agreement being made... strangers and friends.. ive seen it over and over... this common consideration for each other as they compete.... ive even watched them observe and compliment one another.. offering helpful tips to each other.. learning together in a true spirit of friendship and respect...
sometimes its not all that tho..
