Which decade and what are some things you remember about the decade you were born in?
I was born in '62, just a few days before '63. The clearest memories I have are of pulling my father's desk calendar out of a drawer and the calendar said 1966 in big, black numbers. Another very vivid memory was sitting in my sister's candy-apple red Mustang convertible while we drove here and there. She had a box of 8-track tapes and I liked to pull them out and look at the pictures on the fronts (the album covers). I remember when she popped in a tape and I heard The Doors for the first time. That was in 1965. I have loved The Doors ever since, and have visited Jim Morrison's grave in Paris.
I remember a man coming to our house to fix the dishwasher. He told my mom he'd just come back "from 'Nam." That was the first mention I recall hearing of the Vietnam war. For some reason I felt afraid when I heard him say it. It was 1969.
