I remember after school spending nights on the landline (the old phones connected to the wall sockets) with a huge extension cord so I could take it to my bedroom and talking to my friends for hours. We’d been at school together all day but still had so much to talk about. Those were good days!

And going to the fish and chip shop after school and getting hot chips with vinegar on them and sharing them with our friends. Only cost $2 for a big bag and we’d all sit on the grass eating them.

Lots of good memories! I don’t remember much of the 80s but the 90s is where I did my growing up.

I’m glad I didn’t grow up in the age of social media and smart phones!

Your description of the 90's is excellent. No heavy tech.

I'm sure glad that while I was growing up we were free to spend almost all the time we wanted (aside from school) outside. Even when we were teens we were hanging around outside in our neighborhood, parks, cemeteries.

I'm pleased that the internet didn't happen until my kids were past their very young years, as was for you, too. No cell phones, thankfully.

Oooh, the fish & chips sound so delicious. When I was in Dublin I went to a shop and bought some. I was amazed at how large the fish were! Twice the size of the fish here. And the chips were lovely. And of course, with vinegar. What a fun memory for you, unlived.

I still use a landline, haha. The phone is cordless. I am not a "phone person" and never have much gotten into using a cell phone. I'm glad I have it for a few reasons, but I seldom use it.

Thank you for sharing your memories.
