You're a lucky bipolar lady then; 50% of us have migraines (male and female). Nobody has figured out why yet.
I take magnesium as a preventative. It works most of the time; before it was I was having migraines 20+ days per month and now I usually have 2-3. Menopause helps a lot.
I can't use triptans. Most of them can't be used with an MAOI and the 2 that can't just make me sleepy. So I take ibuproferon and am blessed with a family doctor who I've known for 22 years and he gives me scripts for vicodin when the pain is too bad. I rarely take it but it is so good that he makes sure I have it when I do need it.
