I don’t remember when my migraines started but by the time I was 9 our family Dr was worried. I had a brain tumor and sent me to the Mayo Clinic. They worried I had a rare kind of epilepsy and I had a ton of testing. In the end they concluded I had severe migraines and a ulcer. They gave us a ton of home remedies to use including a recommendation that I sit on the floor of the car so that the flashing sunlight while traveling wouldn’t trigger a migraine. The use of sunglasses, stay away from candles ohhh a bunch of other stuff and phenobarbital 3 times a day for a preventative. The pills didn’t stop the headaches and I hated taking them so quit. They also prescribed mallox and a bland diet. Back then in the 60’s there wasn’t much they could do. But they were right about the sun. The sun especially when it’s on the horizon hitting my eye just so would trigger a horrible migraine. High stress also triggered the headaches. But no-a-days they would never recommend a child sit on the floor of a moving car
