And then I remembered the high risk breast clinic having to cancel my first appointment and when I said "oh, that's ok, take your time" they said it was important to get me in. Since at the time I didn't know that I was high risk I thought that odd and they got me in 3 weeks later which is like hours in relative time to my hospital. When they wanted an MRI in 6 weeks it was scheduled in exactly 6 weeks. For the rest of my life I'll get in for mammograms and MRIs every 6 months without any scheduling difficulties and if I find a lump I'll get into high risk clinic rapidly and then get imaging rapidly. When I have post-op in 2 weeks I have a mammogram scheduled. Based on my prior experience in that clinic (breast surgery vs. high risk) they'll probably do ultrasounds on my various lumps in both breasts, plus checking on my new lump either with 3D mammogram and/or ultrasound.
It's weird. In comparison I had to wait nearly 2 months from meeting my surgeon to get my gallbladder out even though I was miserable. My ankle surgery was scheduled 2 months before it was done. They schedule everything way out. But now, in this one area, I don't wait.
It's weird.

It is....creepy. Or can be. My oldest sister retired long ago, but she was an MD. She told me once that if you have lab work or imaging done and don't hear anything within a day or 2, it's a good sign. If they hold off your appointment for a long time, it's also a good sign. And, if you have lab work or imaging done and they say, "Oh, the first" (whatever) was hard to read, or wasn't as clear as it should have been, or any "excuse" and they want to do the lab work or imaging again, it's time for at least some concern. But, she also said, sometimes "a cigar is just a cigar," so to speak. So not to always worry (I always worry, she was always level-headed).
