Loss of taste isn't necessarily COVID, but it's not "not COVID" either. I left work early, went to the doc who gave me the swab up the nose test. I learn the results first thing in the morning. Here's hoping it's negative. Quarantine sounds like no fun!

Annnnnd... the test came back positive for COVID. I have a five day quarantine per the doctor and a prescription for the new COVID-specific antivirals. Four pills twice a day for all five days, more than doubling my pill count. Well, if it works...
My workplace wants me to be out for ten days, but my boss is going to bat for me, seeing if I can't be back in five, pending no symptoms and a negative test. I hope so, because that'll be the difference between three work days lost and eight. This certainly stinks!
Good news. My mom is already experiencing markedly improved sight. She said the eye surgeon jumped for joy when he saw the results during her followup and if she saw a little happy dance...!
Recovery time is still two weeks, so plenty of room for even better results!
