I also like figs a lot and use them in my cooking and baking, but not sure if they fit the "exotic" category. Though I do sort of like more exotic fruit, I confess to preferring the more usual options. I guess the slightly exotic ones I've deliberately bought were kiwi (not that exotic) and star fruit (mostly for their nice shape). Last month the online grocer gave us two passion fruit as a freebie. They tasted OK. I suppose I wouldn't write home about them. There are some I ate in Taiwan and Costa Rica that I never had in NJ. They were OK.

I used to drink a kumquat tea in Taiwan that was very helpful for easing cold symptoms relating to the throat and chest. Kumquats do taste nice, but aren't too exotic in taste, I don't think. They're a citrus fruit and taste like one, albeit a little more sour than an orange and usually used or eaten with the rinds on.

In Taiwan, I also tried durian fruit. Horrible stinky thing, but plenty of Taiwanese eat it.
