So, I am pursuing a certificate towards a specific career field and have taken out about $15K in student loans. In my last course this semester, I asked my professor to switch me from the breakout room he assigned me to, bc one of my classmates (a woman) has a really strong, aggressive personality that clashes with mine and we just don't get along.

Initially, he complied and switched me. During each class every week, we are required to log off the main class and go to Google Docs - a shared class document - to click on the link to our specific breakout group.

After being gone a week when I had Covid-19 for the second time, I noticed that the professor moved me back to my original breakout group with the classmate whom I have a personality conflict with. When I asked him why he did that via email, he didn't provide an answer and just told me to stay in that group.

So, I emailed the chair of my program to complain about his lack of professionalism since I am literally in debt $15K after a year to get this professional certificate so that i can apply for jobs in this field.

My concern now is, since this professor is acting so unprofessional, he could literally fail me without repercussion since I complained to the program chair about him and my classmate. And poof, no certificate but a student loan for $15K that I still have to repay. That's my distorted thinking of the worst case scenario for this outcome. There are only 3 weeks left of this class which I'm earning a B in. But the breakout rooms and small group work count as a decent percentage of the final grade.

I"m really livid that this professor has such a "don't-give-a-crap" attitude. I feel like I"m being scapegoated for being bullied by a classmate. And of course, you know how students are. The gossip has spread about me being a *****, so everyone avoids me in class and doesn't respond to my posts on our class discussion board. Very petty and immature behavior.

Personality conflicts happen esp. when you have adult students who have oil-and-water style personalities.

In hindsight, I wish I had thought to just log off the main classroom, wait 10 minutes then instead of logging into that toxic breakout room, log back into the main classroom without having to deal with that horrible classmate. I didn't b/c we are required to do research and turn in a Google Doc with our names on the one Google Doc.

I don't know what else I can do at this point. I'm just really frustrated to be in this situation.
