yes, as Balish Bun asks, what are they?
when i have repetitive hurtful thoughts going on in my mind, i eventually distract myself from them. sometimes they have given me quite a liken by that time, but none the less, i stop them.
sometimes it's easy - i keep saying 'NO' over and over and it might work. the most common thing i do is distract myself with ordinary activities. if i'm in bed, i get out of it, go on computer, make some tea, pop in a movie or something, take a bath - anything to change the state i was in.
if it's day, i might shop, take a drive with someone, or go in the pool. exercise. make something special. open a magazine and try to get lost in something to read, or a book if i can concentrate.
you see- it all depends on what we like to do vs. what we do not want to do (like deal with bad thoughts invading our life).
nighttime can be the wort time, so it's important for me not to get ecited by any kind of disruption before bed. no caffeine past 12:00 noon so i can sleep when i need it, and taking my anxiety medicine before bed.
if i avoid the triggers, i have less frequent episodes, and with less episodes, comes less intensity.
best to you.
try and few things, buy a book on the subject, and talk to your Dr. about it ... and you will come up with your own personal strategies to address this. meanwhile, try what works for others, it might work for you too.
peace and comfort,
