We don't really do 72 hour holds here. It's just kinda you stay in the ER until you get assessed then either you go home, go voluntarily or you get an IEA (Involuntary Emergency Admission) and stay in the ER (usually about a month these days) until the cops can shackle you and take you to the state hospital. That's happened to me three times. I try to go voluntarily because staying in the ER for weeks and then having to cooperate with a conditional discharge sucks majorly.
